BLUEGRASS PORTRAITS
This 76-page 10" x 8" book features portraits
of many of the performers at the
2008 Cornish Bluegrass Festival.
Originally conceived as a photographers project for fun,
this has become something more, with colour
performance pictures and black and white portraits on facing pages. This book makes a record of the event and shows something of the character of each performer pictured.
A percentage of profit will go to the CBA to help in the production of future festivals.

From The Archives...
The renowned & still thriving traditional music scene down here in West Cornwall rests,
of course, on the shoulders of the early pioneers.
|
Unknown until a few hardy college students arrived with tape recorders to seek out the few surviving originators of a local tradition, these musicians remained the stuff of myth & legend. A local teacher, Jan Beare, had, meanwhile, been tracking down this elusive group and, using his photographic skills, managed to record for posterity some of the actual people whose names had by then already passed into the collective of folk memory.
From the dusty archives of Acousticart, we are pleased to bring you pictures, from long, long ago, of local legends, the original SAFARI BROTHERS.
Apart from the legacy of their still fondly remembered musical entertainment, little is now known about them. Although, it is said, their haunting introductory greeting at every show of "Mines a pint!" can still be heard to echo on misty, wet nights around Zennor.
We can but hope that one day, perhaps, they might reappear. And myth become reality.

For many years one of the most popular watering holes for acoustic musicians.
Not least because of the very fine beer brewed on the premises.
